I would like to share a foundation I have learned through the NTA program that has really changed my health and wellness for the better. Digestion is everything! Every cell that makes up every tissue that makes up every organ depends on the body’s digestive system to provide the nutrients it needs to keep functioning. Digestion is a top to bottom process. To optimize our digestive process, we look first at the importance of making time for our meals - avoiding eating on the run, in our cars, in front of TVs, while on our phones, from vending machines, microwaves, fast foods or processed foods. Instead we consider eating slowly, in a seated, relaxed, calm parasympathetic state as we thoroughly chew our food with gratitude felt for the meal we are ingesting. It can take the gut/brain up to 20 minutes to register the signals that we might be full so slowing eating our meal is a preventative to over eating, as well as the best way to support optimal digestion. These are the first steps to get our gut/brain in the game of digestion so to speak. These steps will insure proper production of the necessary enzymes found in our saliva and gut which break down our foods for maximum absorption.
Stay tuned for my New Years Newsletter where I will discuss more on the benefits of stomach acid and how the Pancreas, Liver, Gallbladder, Small and Large Intestines play crucial roles in our digestive process and how supporting these organs through a whole foods diet and supplementation can bring balance back to our bodies.
Consider scheduling a one on one Nutritional Therapy Consultation where we take a more indepth look at your signs, symptoms, diet and lifestyle, medications, allergies, food sensitivities and other bodily dis-eases to begin our detective work from a functional perspective. Through evaluative testing and implementation of nutritional guidelines and supplementation we work towards getting each bio-individual closer to optimal health and healing. As a forthcoming Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I look forward to assisting and supporting you on your personal journey towards a new way of life and becoming the healthiest version of you.
